CG – The DDD Verlag is divided into two sections, the roleplaying-sector and the boardgame-sector. It all started in 1993, as we published our first edition of our roleplaying magazin for the german roleplaying system “Midgard”. Till this day, there are a total of 19 editions of the magazin and four big adventure books. In 2007 we started our new game line with our first game “The Cradle of the Renaissance”. Last year we published our second game “Uruk- Cradle of Civilization”. The two games cannot be combined with each other, but they are part of a box line which stands for tactically games in a small box format. And if you put them into your shelf side by side, you have a consistent design. This octobre we are releasing with “Campanile” the third game, other games of this line are in preparation!

CG – In CAMPANILE the players build together a total of 5 of the title-giving towers. Everybody wants to fly at higher game, and in the end the player with the most influence on the highest towers wins. Three central playing elements rule: – Building towers – exert influence – draw a card. At the beginning of his turn the player must play one of his cards to raise one of the 5 towers up to three floors. According to his tactics the player lays the card thus on one of the three markings (of a card) that the tower grows by one, two or even three floors. After building a player may exert influence on one of the 5 towers by placing one of his influence markers. They are put under the tower from which the player hopes it will be the highest at the end of the game. The common card display tells the player, under which tower he can place his influence marker. Every player owns influence markers with 1, 2 and 3 points of influence. At the end of his turn the player draws one card to his hand from the common card display. The central rule in the play is: It’s only allowed to put an influence marker at the type of tower of which a card is shown in the common card display. The number of the floors put on determines which influence marker you can stake. With these easy rules you have a quick, tactical game. Every player tries to raise the towers under his own influence or to outbid the influence of other players on quickly growing towers in time. However, he who waits too long may be surprised by the suddenly appearing half-time scoring in which the players gain first victory points. At the end of the game all towers are scored again. The players with the most influence on the highest towers gain the most victory points. Finally the obtained victory points from the half-time scoring and the end scoring are added up. The player with the most victory points wins. The game is a revised new edition of the 1996-released game Campanile, who got a recommendation for “Spiel des Jahres” in 1996.

The principal topic of the game is the legendary trading route in the ancient time. All players try to make high benefits to collect the most precious jewelrys. The players move up to three caravans with its trading goods along the famous road system by playing cards in their personal display. They enter spaces with various actions like customs facilities, market days, bazars or even robberies. Every time a caravan enters her destination, the brought goods are sold. But only the player with the most cards of these goods in his personal display is allowed to sell the goods to get one precious jewel. At the end of the game, the player with the most various jewels wins.
